The Ink Stained Pearl vs The Tough Decisions

Life is full of decisions. Each day is made up of tiny choices that determine who we are. “What should I wear to work today?” may seem like a simple decision but overtime we are subconsciously creating our sense of style and ultimately deciding what we outwardly present to the world. “What will I eat for lunch today?” can develop into our regular diet and have a large impact on our health, our relationship with the environment, and our well being. “Should I reply to his text?” can literally turn into marriage, kids, and a mortgage payment (OK I know it was a fictional scenario but that last one stressed me out!)

Even our smallest decisions are important. They can have a rippled impact on our entire lives. Its no surprise then that with decision making comes anxiety. Gone are the days when everything was as simple as grow up, get a job, get married, have kids, grow old. Our lives have become complicated, and with the pangs of complications come the birth of a new role in society: The Life Coach.

What is a Life Coach? If you’ve been through high school you’re familiar with the term guidance counselor. Someone to listen to your hopes and dreams and help you achieve them. A Life Coach is not much different. Their goal is not to make the decisions for you, but to help you understand what you really want out of life and how to achieve it! Let’s face it, in this generation many of us are in our twenties (or even, ahem, closing in on our thirties) and we still don’t know what we want to be when we grow up. A life coach is there to help you with whatever area of life you are struggling with.

Types of Coaching. Pack your bags kids; we’re journeying through some scenarios. Maybe you’ve finally landed the perfect job, and the perfect apartment. Everything is clicking into place, but you just can’t seem to click in a relationship. A Relationship coach can help you with that. Maybe you are happily married and have stars in your eyes whenever you look at your mate, but your business is struggling. Look no further than an Executive Coach. It may be that everything external is really moving along, but you can’t seem to feel good about your body and nutrition. No matter what is holding you back, there is a counselor tailored to your needs.

How do I Find the Coach for Me? When at the grocery store, we can spend hours picking out our fruit to our exact specifications. This avocado feels too firm, these lemons aren’t vibrant enough, I don’t like the way that pineapple is looking at me! Picking a life coach is as serious a decision as any other. For a person to have an impact on helping you make the important decisions, they need to have your trust. In this Pearl’s opinion, picking a life coach is like picking out fruit. You need to examine a couple before you put the right one in your basket. There’s no shame in shopping around until you find the right one that works for you.
